APHRA APPLICATION

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is the organization responsible for carrying out the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme for healthcare professions, including nursing, across Australia. The National Scheme is a system of national regulation for healthcare professionals, which aims to protect the public by ensuring that only qualified and competent individuals are able to practice in their respective profession.

AHPRA is responsible for registering and accrediting nurses in accordance with the National Law, including setting standards for education and practice, receiving and assessing applications for registration, and investigating and disciplining any practitioners who are found to be in breach of the National Law or the registration standards.

As part of the National scheme, in order to be able to practice as a nurse in Australia, the person must meet the requirements of the National Law and be registered with the relevant nursing board in their state or territory which is governed by AHPRA.
